Young Scientists investigating mould!
The children in 5th and 6th conducted the bread mould experiment in to show how easily germs can be spread and to show the need for clean hands. They learned that moisture was a huge factor for the growth of mould so even clean hands that weren't dried properly caused more mould to grow. They also learned about the different types of mould and most fascinating of all, the learned that the only area where bacteria grew was around the sink because certain bacteria thrive on soap scum so push taps are a more hygienic option than twist taps.
